From Eureka to San Francisco

We spent one night in Eureka where Paul opened the doors of his house for us. We shared lots of travelers' stories and a delicious Thai curry washed down with Californian Red wine. We drove and biked through the Redwood Forest and the Avenue of the Giants. The Coastal drive from Cape Town to Fort Bragg is amazing (Mendocino). David had his first dip of the year in the Pacific waters and we really enjoyed the gorgeous bike rides along the scenic coast.
We stopped for a night at Frey Farm & winery near Lake Mendocino where we shared a meal with Emily, her family and friends around a bonfire lit to celebrate the equinox. Beautiful evening, delicious organic food and very friendly company. Emily, Lilly and Daniel showed us their garden/orchard and took us around the farm where we did a bit of work for a day. I really enjoyed helping making goat cheese ! We shall return !
In San Francisco, we stayed with Jane and Randy in Mill Valley and rode our bikes in the morning to Sausalito. We took the ferry and enjoyed an all day hike in San Francisco: Fishermen's wharf, Russian Hills, Coit tower, Chinatown and back to Sausalito in the evening with the ferry at sunset. Beautiful San Francisco Bay !
